EPISODE 153: BELSNICKING WITH FOX, PHIL & DANIEL BRAUM
Authors T. Fox Dunham and Phil Thomas return to bring you their new holiday special to celebrate the winter solstice 2020. New York author, Daniel Braum, joins them to chat about his new collection of short stories, Underworld Dreams, his new event, The New York Ghost Story Festival and chat about odd holiday traditions. David Walton narrates an excerpt from one of the Daniel’s stories, Tommy’s Shadow, from Underworld Dreams. Then Fox shares several unusual holiday traditions from around the world including the lucky spiders of the Ukraine and the Tió de Nadal, or the pooping log, a tradition celebrated in parts of Spain. We also replay What Are You Afraid Of?’s new and original holiday carol about the Jólakötturinn—the monstrous holiday cat feared in Iceland who eats you if you aren’t wearing new clothes on Christmas Day. We want to put the monsters back into Christmas! And remember, we’re halfway out of the dark.
