Brittany Collens Got a Full Ride, Then Turned Pro in Her Sport. Here's How She Did It.
Manage episode 345553516 series 3401728
Today we'll hear from Brittany Collens, a former New Mexico State and UMass women’s tennis player who now plays tennis professionally.
I met Brittany a few years ago when she was involved in one of the more ludicrous NCAA investigations I’ve ever heard about, which led her to testify before Congress and write a piece for the Players’ Tribune called “The NCAA Erased My Career.”
Thankfully, Brittany had a much better experience getting recruited and playing college tennis, which was the focus of our conversation.
In today's episode, Brittany explains:
* How to market yourself to college coaches
* How to be direct with coaches
* How to turn a poor performance in front of a recruiter into a positive
* How playing lots of sports as long as possible can benefit you in college and beyond
* And why your social development growing up is just as important as your physical development
