Anxiety is not the enemy, but rather a message from your mind and body that something in your life is not sustainable and needs to change.
Physical symptoms of anxiety are normal and part of the fight or flight response, but they can be managed and reduced through acceptance and breathing techniques.
Avoiding or trying to outthink anxiety is not effective in the long run. Instead, it is important to work with your body and mind to address the underlying causes of anxiety.
Acceptance is a key component in managing anxiety. Accept your thoughts, feelings, and physical symptoms without judgment or resistance.
Labelling your experience as "just anxiety" and reminding yourself that it will pass can help to calm the amygdala and regain control over your thoughts and emotions.
"Anxiety is a message from your mind and body that there's something in your life which isn't sustainable and it's making your mind and body sick."
"Anxiety is a motivating way to change course."
"Accept and learn to accept as much as you can and choose to breathe, breathe slow and low down to the diaphragm."
"Label your experience as 'this is just anxiety and it will pass soon.'"
"Sit there with the emotions, sit there with the feelings, sit there with the physical symptoms, sit there with the thoughts, accept them, allow them to be there, welcome them, breathe into them, and just choose to label as 'this is just anxiety and it will pass soon.'"
