Big questions on how Labour MPs are briefed, now that the Education Minister has been referred to Parliament's Privileges Committee over a breach of rules in the House.

Jan Tinnetti's been accused of misleading the House in failing to correct a statement she'd made on school attendance stats.

Political commentator Peter Dunne says the record needed to be corrected within 24 hours.

He says if Tinetti didn't realise that, her staffers should have.

"It's hard to think how she couldn't have known, but it's possible. And as I say if that's the case, she's been badly let down by her staff, who've basically left her out to dry."
