The Flop House is a comedy podcast devoted to the worst in recent film. Your hosts (Elliott Kalan, Dan McCoy, and Stuart Wellington) watch a questionable film, then engage in an unscripted discussion about the movie's shortcomings and occasional delights, while never being afraid of a pointless, silly digression or two hundred.

Lots and lots of movies have soundtracks. Some are classics. Some are bad. But the majority fall somewhere in between. This podcast is going to take a look at all of them (or, as many as I can). Every week I'll be covering a different movie that had an original motion picture soundtrack, and then digging into the album. One part film discussion, one part music discussion, the Soundtracker podcast is here to help you navigate the wide world of movies and music. In each episode, myself and a g ...

In this episode we talk about how this movie deserves a cult following, what an incredible creep Johnny is, the extremely 1991 styles and fa…

The Mixed-Review House rolls on with Kenneth Branagh's second outing as Hercule Poirot, Death on the Nile. It's a character he seems committed to playing, despite seemingly having no particular understanding or affinity for the source material. But hey, at least he's keeping the CGI pyramids industry in business! Wikipedia entry for Death On the Ni…

With the blessing of my incredible Patreon subs, I'm unlocking the show's first bonus episode for non-subscribers. I wasn't planning on having a full episode this week, but thanks to this I can. This also gives you a chance to see that I'm not phoning the bonus material in, and if you like it make sure you subscribe at the Patreon, which I'll link …

Here's a sample of the TANK GIRL episode I recorded with Scott Benson (@bombsfall), a returning fan favorite, available only for Patreon subscribers. If you like this, there's 3 more hours where that came from, and you can find it at the link below. Also, I break down the show's future a little bit beforehand. Support the show! It's the one thing t…

Despite its relative financial success and reviews that are more "mixed" than bad, M. Night Shyamalan has become such a FH all-star, that we had to check out Old: The Beach that Olds People. (As Dan is fond of saying, "Don't get hung up on our name.") Unsurprisingly, it gave us a ton to chew on. Please don't be mad at us just cause we don't think i…

Today I'm joined by Twitch streamer and co-host of The Insurgents Podcast, Rob Rousseau (@robrousseau), to talk about SO I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER. In this episode we talk about the trajectory of Mike Meyers career, how unlikable Charlie can be, I go on a long defense of Gin Blossoms, and we talk a lot about Ned's Atomic Dustbin. So put your headph…

Elliott takes us on another journey through a movie ONE of us have seen, but the others haven't -- in this case, the gritty crime thriller Night of the Juggler, a movie completely devoid of juggling. Today I'm joined by Morgan Kleinschmidt (@ComradeLuanne) to talk about the very fun, very 90s cyber-thriller HACKERS, which features a soundtrack with a great mix of 90s electronica. In this episode we talk about how everyone looks too old to be the characters they play, how Fisher Stevens absolutely understood the assignment, our admittedly small …

What's this? An IN-PERSON episode? That's right! Elliott was in town to officiate a wedding, so we took a little time to get together in person and record an episode for y'all. And what movie did we pick for such a special occasion? How about something that showed up on basically every "worst movies" list of last year -- something that sat on the s…

Today I'm joined by comedian, podcaster, and #1 Joey Deluxe Fan Jeff May (@heytherejeffro on Twitter and IG) to talk about GODZILLA '98. In this episode we talk about what went wrong with the movie, the few things it did right, Matthew Broderick's hat, the extremely 1998 soundtrack and how much it whips ass, how unironically good the Puff Daddy son…

In this episode we talk about the state of 2000s indie rock, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, the sweet charm of the movie, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Give it a listen, and fin…

Let the moon faaaallll / when it crumbuuuules / we will watch iiiiit / and all make fun together! Slight hangovers on two of the Flop Boyz (tm) aren't enough to dampen the fun of the profoundly stupid Moonfall, a movie about a falling moon. Wikipedia entry for Moonfall Movies recommended in this episode Delta Space Mission Drive My Car A Field in E…

On today's episode, I'm joined by the great Bill Corbett (@BillCorbett on Twitter and IG) of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax to talk about TRAINSPOTTING. In this episode, we talk about the catch-22 of depicting heroin use realistically in film, the softies at Cannes, knowing people like Begbie, bad times at the nightclub, and the soundtra…

Today on Soundtracker, the good guys dress in black, remember that. That's right, it's MEN IN BLACK. And joining me is Film Twitter stalwart and all-around good guy, Jackson Boren (@JacksonBoren). In this episode we talk about Will Smith's incredible run in the 90s as the 4th Of July Weekend guy, his tie-in songs, the precursors for those, the stil…

The Carnage that was teased at the end of Venom has arrived, albeit with much straighter, non-Ronald McDonald looking hair on Woody Harrelson's head. Cowards. But that's the ONLY part of Venom: Let There Be Carnage that's less goofy than the first one. Hear us dissect this movie like a symbiote eating a human head. Also, while Max Fun Drive is offi…

Today on Soundtracker I'm joined by Andrew Law (@IllyBocean) of the Boonta Vista podcast (@boontavista) to talk about NEW JACK CITY. In this episode we talk about blaxploitation, Ice-T, Mario Van Peebles, the film's conflicting messaging, the very early-90s fashion, Snipes, get in-depth on the intricate web of New Jack Swing, and as always, talk ab…

Sharlene sits down with Mike Vanderbilt of Rock Island Public House and the Halloweenies podcast at the Loews Hotel lobby in Chicago, where they discuss which nearby area is the 'Brooklyn of Chicago', the benefits of starting out behind the bar at a Chili's, and how much a customer can ask to change the recipe of a cocktail. Plus, is it cool to rea…

What's this? A BONUS full episode in honor of Max Fun Drive? That's right! It's the Max Fun crossover event of the year! Griffin McElroy has already been a part of one amazing podcast about The War With Grandpa, over on sister Max Fun podcast My Brother My Brother and Me, and that was without even seeing the movie! What will he think now that he's …

Today on Soundtracker, I'm joined by Unread's Chris Stedman (@ChrisDStedman on IG and Twitter) to talk about Britney Spears' unfairly maligned (even at the time of release) film CROSSROADS. It's a much darker movie than I expected, and a movie that takes on an entire new light in 2022. It's one worthy of reevaluation. In this episode we talk about …

Weirdly, a constantly-wisecracking Ryan Reynolds isn't less irritating when you add a child version of him making the same smug jokes. Are Netflix's widely-reported woes because they churn out dreck like The Adam Project? The world may never know! Wikipedia entry for The Adam Project Movies recommended in this episode: Everything Everywhere All at …

It's 4/20, you ain't got no job, and you ain't got shit to do. Ok, so only 2 of those things are true, hopefully. That's right, it's an early drop on this week's episode, in honor of every weed smokers favorite day of the year. Joining me today is comedian, actor, musician, cannibus activist, and podcaster Ngaio Bealum (@ngaio420 on Twitter and Ins…

The erotic thriller is back, baybee! Sure, it has more Ben Affleck gazing lovingly at snails than it used to, but you gotta expect that kind of wear and tear after leaving it in the garage for a couple of decades. This week, the peaches take on Adrian Lyne's direct-to-Hulu cuckold murder-stravaganza Deep Water. Wikipedia entry for Deep Water Movies…

Jason Reitman gives Ghostbusters back to the FANS, MAAAAAN! By giving them what they want -- a comedy without jokes! We're not sure what Ghostbusters: Afterlife is, but it's sure not a Ghostbusters movie, which is weird, considering it spends every waking moment trying to elbow you in the ribs with references to Ghostbusters. Wikipedia entry for Gh…

Today on Soundtracker I'm joined by Kaleb Horton (@kalebhorton) and Alan Siegel (@AlanSiegelLA) to talk about WALK HARD : THE DEWEY COX STORY, the only biopic you ever need to see.
